Iraq Passes Election Law Changing Selection of Parliament

The Iraqi parliament passed a new election law which changes the method parliament seats are allocated. The new law allows voters to choose individual candidates to fill respective seats in parliament. The U.S. congratulated the Iraqi parliament in taking this breakthrough step. President Obama noted that “[t]his agreement advances the political progress that can bring lasting peace and unity to Iraq, and allow for the orderly and responsible transition of American combat troops out of Iraq by next September.” To read more, click here NYTimes.
