Four Guantanamo Detainees Transferred to Europe

The Obama administration took one step closer to closing Guantanamo Bay by transferring four detainees to several European countries on Monday. Saber Lahmar, a former legal resident of Bosnia, was transfered to France. Lahmar was a plaintiff in Boumediene v. Bush, the case that permitted Guantanamo detainees to challenge their detention in federal court. The administration also transferred on Monday Adel Ben Mabrouk and Mohamed Ben Riadh Nasri, both Tunisian, to Italy to face terrorism charges, and transferred an unnamed Palestinian detainee to Hungary.
