Karl Eikenberry, the US Ambassador to Afghanistan, has warned against greater troop presence.  His dissent  focused on the extent of corruption and ineffectiveness of the Karzai regime and placed him in opposition to his former colleague and NATO troop commander, General McChrystal.  President Obama recently met with his top advisers to hear options on a new Afghan strategy.  He is expected to increase troop levels in the next few weeks.
