United Russia sweeps elections

After 99 percent of the Moscow vote is counted, pro-Kremlin United Russia won 66 percent of the vote and Communists 13 percent. They were the only two parties to pass the 7 percent required to gain seats in the city council. Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov’s Yabloko came in with less that 5 percent. Communist Zyuganov told the press there was widespread election fraud and vote hindering. Read more at St. Petersburg Times.
