American officials recently released a list of detainees being held at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan in response to a suit filed by the ACLU seeking documents related to the detention and treatment of prisoners at the base. The list included the names of the 645 detainees present in September 2009 when the FOIA request was filed. U.S. officials had previously refused to release the list and will appeal the decision.
