Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, one of the masterminds of the 9/11 attacks on New York City and the Pentagon, was scheduled to have his trial held in New York, but President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder are considering moving the trial to a different venue. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg wanted to move the trial from Manhattan for security issues. Although there are safety concerns, the Administration is still dedicated to seeing Mohammed tried in a U.S. court. One of the suggestions made by Mayor Bloomberg is to move the trial to a military facility. Senate members, as well as others in the Manhattan community, are raising concerns about holding the trial in the Southern District of New York and are lobbying the White House to make a change.
