Secretary of State Clinton Visits Afghanistan to Demand Progress Against Corruption
Secretary of State Hilary Clinton made a surprise visit to Afghanistan on Wednesday. She pressed President Karzai to tackle corruption, and that visible results were a must for future aid. U.S. officials plan to become more engaged with cabinet leaders and provincial leaders. President Karzai has many competing interests to balance, including dealing with warlords and placating the United States. President Obama has said he is very close to making a decision about his Afghanistan policy.
