Saudi Prince Khaled bin Sultan bin Abdul-Aziz, the assistant minister for defense and aviation, admitted that four Saudi soldiers were missing, but denied that they had been captured in Yemen. Saudi forces fought to regain territory seized by Houthi rebels, and announced today that they had recovered the lost territory.
However, an analyst a the Institute for Near East and Gulf Military Analysis said that fighting was likely to continue as long as the Saudi government assists Yemen’s fight against the Houthi, a Shia group that receives support from Iran. The Yemeni government is also struggling against factions of al-Qaeda, and, the analyst said, as Saudi Arabia lends support to Yemen, “they become apostates and [al-Qaeda and the rebel groups] will go after them more.”
