Saudi Arabia Arrests Hundreds of Al Qaeda

In response to an internal failed terrorist attack and the failed Christmas bomber attempt, Saudi Arabia redoubled its efforts to capture militants linked Al Qaeda within the Arabian Peninsula.  Today, General Mansour al-Turki, spokesman for the Saudi Interior Ministry reported the arrest of 113 Al Qaeda-linked terrorists operating within the Yemen-Saudi border.  These arrests are the result of over five months of investigation and penetration, netting a significant group of militants mostly from Saudi Arabia and Yemen.  Most impressive is the fact that Saudi Arabia was able to penetrate the small local Al Qaeda cells in a relatively short period of time.  The arrests were critical to ensuring the safety of critical oil infrastructure and in maintaining the peninsula’s security in general.
