President Obama has called for a review of the events leading up to Maj. Nidal Hasan’s shooting rampage at Ft. Hood. Mr. Obama has already called for an intel review, but this new call for a review would be far more comprehensive. He has urged Congress, who wants to pursue its own review, to not use the event for “political theatre.” Mr. Obama stated that if anyone failed to take appropriate action before the shooting, they must be held accountable.
One would hope that the accountability urged by Mr. Obama does not turn into the political theatre he discourages. With the ties to Walter Reed Medical Center, it should be fresh in everyone’s mind the dangers of politicians holding individuals accountable for systemic problems.
