In response to a recent article by Seymour Hersh, Pakistani officials asserted that Pakistan’s nuclear security apparatus “is fully geared to meet all conceivable challenges.” Officials went on to criticize the quality of Mr. Hersh’s reporting and downplayed the threat posed by insurgents. Pakistan’s well-documented struggle with insurgents in its western tribal areas has raised questions about the security of its nuclear arsenal.
