Obama moves to shift tone on national security

Obama advisers on Wednesday indicated that the administration intends to revise its terminology with regard to national security, eliminating religious rhetoric and toning down polarizing language in an attempt to shift the conversation and engage the Muslim world.  As part of that effort, counterterrorism officials say the White House plans to remove terms such as “Islamic radicalism” from the document that maps out the country’s national security strategy. This document, expected to be forthcoming in the next couple weeks, will shed light on what is expected to be a palpable shift in strategy.
