New charges for international arms dealer Bout
On Wednesday, U.S. officials announced new charges against international arms dealer Viktor Bout, counts of illegally purchasing U.S. cargo planes to ferry weapons to warring parties and regimes in Africa and the Middle East. Federal authorities announced the new indictment as they renew efforts to extradite Bout from Thailand, where he has been detained since 2008. A Thai court previously rejected a request for extradition, though the United States has appealed that ruling.
