The navies of North and South Korea clashed in disputed waters in the South Yellow Sea

today, leaving a North Korean ship ablaze. A South Korean defense official in Seoul said a South Korean navy ship fired warning shots after a North Korean patrol vesel crossed the sea border. The official says the North Koreans then fired back and continued on their course. The White House has warned North Korea over their actions, which has placed a dark cloud over President Obama’s upcoming visit to Seoul next week.
