More than 300 were arrested in two days during “Operation Coronado,” involving Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement, targeting the infamous La Familia Mexican drug cartel. Federal, state and local law enforcement colaborated over a 44 month period to arrest 1,200 on narcotics related charges. Along with the arrests, 11.7 tons of drugs and $32.8 million were seized.
With the Mexican drug wars escallating and violence spilling over into the United States daily, targeting these big drug cartels and their distribution networks is key to reclaiming boarder security. While La Familia and the other cartels are far from beaten, a fight given on any front is crucial.
