Governor of Afghanistan's Second-Largest City Injured in Bomb Blast
Tooryalai Wesa, governor of Khandahar, was injured when his motorcade was hit by a roadside bomb. The governor was riding to noon-time prayer services for the Eid al-Adha holiday.
Although violence was minimal in Khandahar only a few years ago, it has been on the rise recently. The Taliban movement has its root in the Khandahar region.
