In the past 3 months, the CIA has used drone attacks against suspected militants associated with Al Qaeda and the Taliban in Pakistan more frequently than before. In the first two months of 2010, more than dozen drone attacks have killed approximately 90 suspected militants. Recently, the drones have been patrolling North Waziristan, Pakistan virtually 24 hours a day, significantly limiting the militants’ freedom of movement and communication. However, there is a growing concern over collateral civilian deaths due to the frequent drone strikes. According to the locals, anywhere from 100 to 500 civilians may have been killed since the drone attacks began.
