“Detroit Bomber” Enters Not Guilty Plea

Yesterday, a Detroit judge entered a plea for the non-responsive “Detroit bomber,” Mr. Abdulmutallab. The defendant walked into court, confirmed his name and that he understood the charges against him. However, when the judge asked about the nature of Abdulmutallab’s plea, there was no response. After being arrested for attempting to ignite a bomb on a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit, Abdulmutallab sat silently in the courtroom as the trial judge was forced to assign a pleading of not guilty.
