Chavez Asks Chevron to Use Oil Deal to Improve U.S.-Venezuela Relations

Upon finalizing what could be a 40-year oil deal between Venezuela and Chevron, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez asked Ali Moshiri, Chevron’s chief for Latin America and Africa, to persuade President Barack Obama to visit his Venezuela in hopes of improving the strained relations between the two countries. Chevron is intent on staying out of politics, although better relations between the United States and Venezuela would presumably be an advantage for the oil company.
