Bomb Explodes on Bridge Between Israel and Jordan
Know as the King Hussein Bridge on the Jordanian side, and as the Allenby Bridge on the Israeli side, it is one of the few border crossings between the two countries. The two countries signed a peace accord in 1994, which is very unpopular in Jordan, a country with a very large Palestinian population.
A bomb exploded on Thursday afternoon, on the Jordanian side of the bridge, as a three–car convoy ferrying Israeli diplomats passed. Early reports indicate that the target of the blast was the Israeli ambassador to Jordan, although no injuries have yet been recorded.
