Vice President Joe Biden spoke out against critiques of the White House’s handling of terrorism made by the former Vice President, Dick Cheney. Cheney has commented in the past that the Obama administration has pretended the U.S. is not at war. Biden lashed backed on Meet the Press stating Al Qaeda has been on the run since Obama became President. “We’ve eliminated 12 of their top 20 people. We have taken out 100 of their associates” Biden said, “They are in fact not able to do anything remotely like they were in the past. They are on the run. I don’t know where Dick Cheney has been. Look, it’s one thing, again, to criticize. It’s another thing to sort of rewrite history. What is he talking about?” Cheney is to appear on ABC’s This Week so that back-and-forth between him and Biden may continue.
In the interview Biden also claimed the Iraq War has not been worth the “horrible costs.” He also stated that despite the previous administration’s handling of the war, 90,000 U.S. servicemen and women will return home this summer and elections will soon be held in Iraq.
