Attacks in Afghanistan Persist

Bombings and other attacks in Afghanistan took several lives over the past few days, including four American troops. Five Afghani police officers were also killed Sunday by Taliban insurgents along the country’s border with Pakistan.

The timing of the attacks marks the beginning days of President Hamid Karzai’s second term in office. NATO has requested more troops from allied nations to help curb the violence in Afghanistan.
