Once again the American spirit of helpfulness has gone awry in one groups’ efforts to lend a hand in the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake. The ten Americans from Idaho are accused of attempting to traffic 33 children from Haiti to the Dominican Republic. The group claims they were just trying to help bring hope, and thought they had all the proper documentation and permissions necessary to move the children to a renovated hotel which they had plans to turn into an orphanage. They remain in detention, awaiting a merciful sentence.
