American Hikers Held in Iran on Charges of Espionage

After traveling through Kurdistan in Iraq, 3 American hikers who strayed into Iran were arrested this summer. According to reports aired by the official news agency of the Iranian regime, the 3 American hikers will be charged with espionage. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called for the immediate release of the hikers again and stated that there was “no evidence to support any charge whatsoever” according to the AP. Numerous other Americans, including Iranian-Americans, have been detained in Iran since the widely disputed election of the summer. Many still remain in prison while a few others have been released.
