American Cleric Taught Detroit Underwear Bomber

Radical, American-born, Yemeni cleric Anwar al-Awlaki said this week that the 23-year-old, Nigerian underwear bomber was his student, but that he did not order the failed attack. Awlaki is apparently in hiding in Yemen. The radical cleric, with ties to al-Qaeda’s Yemeni franchise, also exchanged emails with alleged Fort Hood shooter Major Nidal Malik Hasan in the months leading up to the massacre.
