Afghanistan’s Defense Minister, Abdul Rahim Wardak, announced his plan to increase the number of national troops substantially, bringing the total to 240,000. This occurred after recent bombings that killed at least 25 people. It also comes during a time when President Obama and NATO are debating whether to send more U.S. troops. Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, denounced the proposals for more U.S. troops and civil aid on NPR, but General McChrystal supports an increase.
