On Friday, Turkish police launched raids across 16 different provinces, leading to the arrest of 120 individuals with suspected Al-Qaeda ties. This round of raids comes just one week after Turkish authorities apprehended more than 25 people in Ankara and Adana. Information gathered from the 25 individuals is believed to have spurred Friday’s raids. Among the 120 arrested are senior members of Al-Qaeda’s Turkish branch. The group is believed to have been planning attacks within Turkey and Afghanistan, including an attack on the NATO regional command center. Turkish forces took over the center’s rotating command in November.
